Nettie (KRAUKHEYT) Van TEXEL died prior to 1790. The couple lived
on the Manor of Cortlandt but later moved to Fishkill, Dutchess Co NY
where they both joined the Reform Church. Hendrick was a church
officer and his name appears on a list of Freeholders in 1740. He
owned land and left a will that was not probated but refers to
subsequent Deeds by his sons.

Johnathan Fowler's Westchester Company. He was 5'6" tall with blue
eyes and a round face. VAN TASSEL, Jacob, of the Town of Salina.
Will dated March 25, 1815. Probated August 27, 1821. Mentions
wife Elizabeth who is named executor. Witnesses: Daniel Gilbert, John
Q. Mang, and Christian Alsenbintze.

He purchased city lots and remained in NYC until the start of the
Revolutionary War when he moved back to Cambridge. On May 1, 1761 he
conveyed lot #43 Day Street, NYC to Dirck Day. The original title of
that transaction showed the wrong lot number. The record shows on
March 5, 1789, a confirmation by Cornelius, Hendrick and Abraham Van
TEXEL along with John & Alida Shaw, John & Ester Moral, all
of Albany County and the heirs of Thunnis Van TEXEL, late of
Cambridge, confirmed purchase of lot #43 Day Street, NYC.

In the Will of Hendrick Van TEXEL dated 3/1/1771 (Liber 27 of Wills,
page 523, April 1771) it mentions his wife Balitie, Sons John and
Hendrick; daughter Mary and granddaughter Balithy Stemits. It also
speaks of an Estate upon Long Island of some land, now in dispute of
the Law, if in case it should prove successful, then it is to be
equally divided.

Theodorus Van TEXEL was early removed from the Manor of
Philipsburgh. In 1752 he was in Orange Co NY where his son, John, was
baptized at the Walpeck Church in New Jersey not far from Minnesink
NY where, in revolutionary times his son, Nicholas, lived. The
Walpeck church records list the names of John's parents as Theodorus
Van Tessel and Maritje Boen.

Indian war enlisting on 4/21/1759 in Jonathan Haights Company and is
described as having light eyes, brown hair, height 5'11". A weaver by
trade, he lived at Peekskill NY. There was another Albert VT at
Haverstraw in 1767.

Jacob Van TEXEL was baptized 4/23/1723. They may have had other
children. Jacob Van TEXEL enlisted in the French and Indian War on
3/27/1759. He was 6'1" tall with light eyes and hair. He was a tenant
of Frederick Philipse and leased a farm situated within limits of the
village of Sing Sing NY consisting of 14 acres. At the end of the
Revolutionary War, that property was purchased by the Commissioner of
Forfeitures by Moses Ward.

Jan VT leased a farm of 196 acres in Westchester County from
Frederick Philipse. A part of the farm was later occupied by Sing
Sing Prison. The leasehold afterwards went into the possession of his
son, David, who on 5/4/1786 sold his leasehold interest in the
property to Elijah Hunter. Elijah purchased the fee from the
Commissioners of Forfeitures for 550 pounds in Gold and Silver.

recorded in Liber Book B, p 287 Westchester County Surrogates Office
10/10/1794 - 3/10/1795. He mentions his daughters Mary Males, Vinch
Lent and Catharine Tice. Little is known of his wife except that
appearing at the baptism of Abraham, son of John and Catharine Tice,
was Abraham Van Tassel & Keysa, his wife, sponsors, at the Old
Dutch Church at Sleepy Hollow.
